Our neighborhood has no shortage of kids, so we’re hoping a babysitter’s course will help meet demand for babysitting in the area.
The Hamptons Community League is partnering with a group at WECA (6315-199 St.) to offer the Red Cross Babysitter’s Course on Saturday, October 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Participants will learn about creating safe environments, caring for all age groups of children, the business of babysitting and how to handle emergencies and first aid. All participants must be over the age of 11.
Course instructor Sarah Dewhurst has taught first aid and CPR since 2009. She has considerable experience with children through her many years of babysitting and through her job as a swim instructor. As Sarah says, “I work with children a LOT, so I have plenty of ideas for what to do with children to keep them active and busy!” Sarah also instructs people how to teach swimming lessons, so she has experience helping others learn to interact with small children.
The cost to take the course is $57.75 per person (tax included) which provides a Red Cross Babysitter’s Manual ($25), wallet certification card, and registration with The Red Cross ($20).
To register call WECA at 780-489-2579 before October 19.
If you know any teens and pre-teens, please encourage them to register in this Babysitter’s Course.
